MONKEY BAA THEATRE - YONG

This interactive, digital experience supports Monkey Baa’s work, Yong, based on Janeen Brian’s novel ‘Yong: the journey of an unworthy son’. The experience is a unique, interactive portal into the story that explores the narrative of the play, its historical setting and the theatre-making process. Yong’s journey from China to the Australian goldfields is visualised by Kim Siew’s animated illustrations and includes narration from the character of Yong. A mouse, touchpad or keyboard can be used to scroll through the scenes and as the story unfolds, interactive opportunities arise. By clicking on icons, you can listen to the writer, director, designer and actor talk about the theatre-making process, with historical context and classroom activities throughout.
